Should Alh management have the right to protect players from the nhl team? in the chl you get 2 pertects at the start of the szn ahl should have the same offer or better?
It's not a bad idea IMO. I realize AHL is the "feeder" team for the NHL team but I don't think you need to follow every single real life rule. There are lots of Managers in the A who put in a ton of time to make their team good and it sucks when even one of your top guys gets called up, it's a huge blow. It's like the age-old debate with the standings. I get LG follows the real life rule of the A but in all honesty, I would rather just see them do top 8 in each conference. Too many good teams lose out on playoffs every season because of unbalanced divisions (through no fault of the league of course).
Here is a great idea. Before you take management in the ahl talk with your future owner and see how he handles the ahl team.
I have no clue if you and Frosty have beef or something, but it seems like you're being a bit short sighted on this. It looks as though you've never GM'd an AHL team before, as someone who has I can tell you its somewhat luck of the draw. You can talk to the owner and ask them what they intend to do with the AHL team and even take SSs and try to hold them to it, but at the end of the day they're able to fuck you over in many ways. Lets not pretend that there aren't Owners who don't care about their AHL team's success just like there are AHL managers who expect far too much of the NHL owner. With all of that said, I don't fully know what happened between Loops and Corn, I just heard that they lost their C in an AHL only trade that the NHL did. I could be missing something obviously but I'd be pretty bummed out if that happened to me. I've been a big proponent of the concept of NHL management having to get consent to made AHL only trades, assuming the AHL management is proven to be competent (AKA not in the basement). I don't think it will happen because, much like Matt said, their is a sense of realism LG tries to instill in the league.
No beef between me and frosty, but like someone stated before the ahl is the farm team if you lose guys its just the way it is. now do i think taking a top ahl teams players or trading them away when you yourself in the NHL isin't making playoffs is right no i dont but it is what it is. got to keep some sense of realism
