I wonder who will be the regular starting goalie. I'm sure our good old buddy "Rayzor" will choke under pressure once again and lose his starting position ....

can't say i like this trade. There goes our first 2 picks. And didn't you already trade a top prospect for raycroft?
Bell is a welcome addition though

Good pick up for the Leafs, whether they picks were worth it only time will tell. For now both Toskala and Bell make the Leafs a better team.

I don't get this deal. Toskala is marginally better than Raycroft. So you have two solid goalies but not one clear cut guy? Is Toskala the clear cut # 1?

I don't see this deal helping enough to get the Leafs from 9th to a playoff seed IMO.

Bell is the deal maker for me in this deal , I have seen this kid play and he will be great in Toronto. I think Toskala is a piece for a bigger trade to get CuJo from Phoenix....

This could be good if Toskala repeats his play from last year and Bell gets back to his form from 2 years ago.

As for the picks, who knows how that will go... but the 1st pick is conditional so if the player San Jose wants isn't available at 13 then the Leafs keep the pick and it rolls over to 2008.

i think it's a good deal for both clubs... SJ cuts some fat while gaining some future players and Toronto could trade either Tosk or Raycroft for some solid players.

I also thought this would be the year we'ed see Poggi in a few games. Can't see that happening now unless one of the goalies pulls a gerber

Toskala is a World Class Goaltender and make Toronto a better team hell post a 2.85GAA which may make Toronto a playoff team if they get that powerplay together next year, they lose nothing realisticly 3 picks doesnt mean anything till 2012 at the earliest and Toronto have never had a farm system anyway. you get a young PWF and a top 10 in the world Goalie for nothing bad deal for SJ they could have gotten Rask from Boston, which is a backup now and gotten a pick. A steal for Toronto as long as you dont beat him up in the media like you did Raycroft, and Theodore, hell produce.

Geez....even if this makes Toronto a better team this year (which it should) they are far from being a force with these additions. They continue to look short term as usual....idiotic. Seeing those 1st and 2nd round draft picks go by was just funny for me.

Force, god no Playoff team absolutly, Toskala as any SJ fan can tell was all the equal of Nabokov, Nabokov just had the most experiance and as such got the playoff starts, i feel the same way about Illya Bryzgalov. Mark Bell is a big kid who never really put it together hes still young and is better than alot of what Toronto has on there roster now, so he may yet hit his finish his devlopment.

and Poseidon draft picks in hockey are so screwy it takes a great scouting staff or alot of luck SJ might get 1 good player out of all 3 of those picks. but even if they do its still 2-4 years away unless you find a Crosbyesqe tallent.

I am not sold if they are a playoff team with this lin-up yet. It depends how well other teams perform, we'll see on that. It surprised me that they made a run last season so who knows.

My point is that they should pick up guys who are young with alot of talent. If it takes 3 or 4 years to develop that great, That's about what it's going to take for them to compete again if they play things right. The trade sent the message to their fans that they are ready to be a force this year (which is untrue). The management does not understand the concept of looking long term. You can't continually trade away your draft picks.

My early prediction is a 60-40 or 70-30 split of the games for Toskala.

ditto id go 65-35 Raycroft is just to inconsistant he lets to many pucks that he should save in. He can play some great games, but isnt consistant enough in my eyes the very definition of a back up. This coming from a guy who has seen a ton of both of these netminders.
