about time. took way too long but its here.

 

Yeah really, took long enough. I remember saying 3 years ago this crap needs to be taken out of the game.

 

Putting a rule into effect with like 10 games left is beyond stupid.

Even if I liked the rule, which I don't, it would still be stupid.

 

Def could have been added next year, they waited about 5 years to create it. Whats a few more months.

 

It's a phenomenal rule that should of been in place long ago. Why wait?

 

Well because judging the first 7/8's of a season differently than the last 1/8 is ludicrous.

Plus. Keep your fuucking head up, that's your responsibilty, not me.

 

We all get that these big guys can make big hits. Now all they got to do is make sure that they do it when the other player isn't in an extremely bad situation.

The Cooke hit for instance. Savards' head was up and looking right at the net. You cant be looking everywhere at the same time to make sure some tool doesn't jump out of BFE and take your head off. This is just BLINDSIDE hits to the head. It's not like they are taking checking away.

Obviously hits are still going to happen without the blindside hits to the head.

 

It sets a bad precedant.

Ten years ago if you mentioned this people would be puking on the streets. Who's to say in ten years all checking isn't gone?

And that article is exactly WHY this **** is stupid.

Hit was CLLLLLLEEEEEAAAAAAANNNNNN as a whistle, and yet now its a news story, with discussion of possible suspensions!?!?!?!? Spacek even said "If I get suspended, I get suspended." This is hockey, you shouldn't have to think like that. Bull**** ***** garbage media is to blame. And because it's in the media all the time you guys all seem you think it's awesome.

 

No one in that article called the hit dirty. Nowhere in the article did they call the hit suspension worthy. They even had the guys teammate call the hit clean. Did you read same article?

Did you miss the point of that post all together. I said big hits were going to happen even with the rule in place.

I live in Canada, and watched the game live so my experience with this hit is different than you reading one single article.

I was judging the media's reaction as a whole and not this one single aspect of it.

 

You seem to think I'm touched by this article in some way. In actuality it's a simple way of showing that even with the rule, big hits will still happen. There are always going to be people out there with sandy vaginas. I'm surprised you of all people would be so sensitive to it.

That being said. If you live in Canada, wouldn't the reaction be one of standing up for it? I mean it was against the Montreal was it not?

 

Canada's media is filled with pussies that never played the game. And unless you're French you aren't sticking up for the Habs.

My problem is that completely legal hits will happen, and they will be discussed ad nauseum, when they are clean hits this will result in people getting suspended over borderline hits, and it WILL affect the game. The process of taking hitting out of the game just got put into overdrive.

 

I also don't think you were touched by the article.

What I'm saying is this is a non story as it was a clean hit, but I have heard three seperate people this morning calling for a suspension.

 

Tell the people complaining to look at the updated rules. No need for a suspension.

This is taking no more away from checking in hockey than taking the helmet to helmet tackle away from football. It takes an extremely dangerous element out of the game. Yes there will be people that debate whether checks are clean or not just like there are people that complain about the helmet to helmet rule but at the end of the day it takes out an extremely ugly part of the sport.

 

I think a clean shoulder shot to the head is a thing of beauty.

 

Do it when the guy is looking at you and not from behind or the side and it can be.
