The S23 Season Debriefing (Why your team missed the playoffs)

The S23 Season has finished and with it 16 teams are going golfing, Lets see why

East


16th Toronto Marlies

Was anybody actually surprised the Toronto Marlies were worst team in the league? No everybody knew they would be awful, A Classic tale of CHLers building an awful team. Even worse the Marlies were awfully managed, Any assets they had were traded away for mere pennies resulting in 3 weeks worth of Forfeiting games. The Bozos who ran this team have been banished to Hotel California (Atleast i hope so)


15th Hersey Bears

Another case of CHL players running a team poorly, This team sucked from the start however they never sunk too low, No FF's and the team was constantly playing spoilers at the end of the season. They never moved most of their big pieces from the start of bidding and never improved but they didn't really get worse. I wouldn't mind seeing the managers of this team getting another shot.


14th Providence Bruins

An Nhler getting a team with an Ahler with solid management experience, good resigns aswell? This should have been a homerun and then bidding happened. The Defense was bad and the rest of the offense was not good either. It didn't help the bruins barely made any trades to fix the holes in the team, But with a bidding that bad it would be hard to patch up, The Heel line that was suppose to dominate the league did fine but wasn't godlike as expected.


13th Lehigh Valley Phantoms

I'm tired of saying this but once again CHLers, But not really. Lehigh had a good bidding there team did decently out of the gate , The problem comes from trading away players and getting less in return when they didn't really have too. It's not like they went crazy with trades but they traded down enough to go from an average/slightly above average team to a below average team. still honestly not bad for some chl manager's first crack at the ahl, Could be good next year if they get the chance to manage again.


12th Syracuse Crunch

7.25M on a winger What the hell were you thinking? (Nothing against Jake, Solid player but an extreme overpay, you can't pay wingers that much money) aside from that Syracuse started off well and then boom snap back to reality fell off a cliff. They made some great moves to improve the team but by the time that happened it was too little too late.


11th Cleveland Monsters

An Average team that made great moves at the deadline looked like they were gonna sneak into a playoff spot, then they just fizzled out after a week.


10th Charlotte Checkers

Winning 2 games in week 8 when the other 2 teams competing for that last playoff spot won at minimum 7 games that week leaving you in the dust and basically making it so you'd have to win all 9 games to even have a chance of making the playoffs.


9th Laval Rocket

There were 5 good solid teams competing for 4 playoff spots and unforunately for you, you were the one that lost out, Belleville completely choked a 3 - 0 lead against the griffins in regulation giving you opening you needed to squeeze into that 8th spot. However you lost to the checkers tragically in OT losing the playoff spot to a tiebreaker.



West


16th Manitoba Moose

Ahl experience yes, Management experience No. It's not gonna go well when the best you've got for management experience is being an AGM for a season. Still nobody expected it to be this bad, Marlies of the west except with management that actually tried to finish out the season.


15th San Diego Gulls

Father time takes it's toll on everyone and everything but who knew it would target virtual video game leagues, Plenty of experience in management, but only decline. The management chops of this management core has seemly vanished as once again this gulls team sucks.


14th Colorado eagles

Just like last season, One line is good the others are not so much, It was a little more balanced this season the other lines actually managed to win games but unforunately for the eagles it meant the good line wasn't winning as much either. It also doesn't help going from 9 - 3 - 0 to only winning 4 games
till the end of week 3


13th Henderson Silver Knights

A good team in the middle of the season, A horrible team at the start and the end. Improved and then fell of a cliff and became horrible again.


12th Iowa Wild

Good week, Bad week. Make up your mind are you dogshit or are you good, Too many dogshit weeks not enough good weeks. Sometimes average aswell. That's just not enough to make playoffs.


11th Tucson Roadrunners

Public enemy #1 Many cheered against the roadrunners, It doesn't help when you bid on a guy then immediately publicly trash him the shoutbox. Alot of Higher skilled Chl guys making there jump to the AHL combined with the CHL guys who recently made there jump 1 - 3 seasons ago and you get an average team. Not Terrible but not good enough to make playoffs.


10th Springfield Thunderbirds

A quite average team that simply didn't improve enough to propel themselves into a playoff spot, It doesn't help that Nolan had an awful season.


9th Abbotsford Canucks

Completely awful out of the gate the canucks slowly improved and became way better as the season went on, Turning it around they battled there way into playoff contention but just came up short in the end, This is a team that's gonna be very good next season as the mistakes of this season probably won't happen again

 

"Not terrible". WOO! Tucson moving up in the world. Also, I'm kind of flattered to be referred to as a higher skilled CHL player and to be number 1 on your list, even if it is as a public enemy. Cheers!

Because the GM Got a big ego'd, just wasn't good enough.

Because they literally do not know the rule book. Like literally do not know the rules.

Because anytime I tried to trade for a t9 forward, 7th dman or TC goalie, he wanted me to give him gr8.

Because Jojo just doesn't fucking care, bad deal for coke.

Because Bandit tries really hard, unfortunately his AGM wasn't gonna propel him into playoffs, and he got ego'd a bit. Western Phantoms.

13th Henderson Silver Knights

Because anytime anyone needs to talk to Beauregard, he takes 4 days to answer, then makes a incredibly stupid counter offer, then you remind him "hey you're the henderson knights."

12th Iowa Wild

Because inconsistency, Scope had a good GM, I'd like to see him run it back in a non summer season.


11th Tucson Roadrunners

Because it just wouldn't feel right if Givens and Buckley made ahl playoffs.


10th Springfield Thunderbirds

Because literally we still don't know who is on the roster, and 95% of them don't want to be there.

 

RIGHT? That would be wild.

 

UPDATE are out of the playoffs because fucked up,

The sens could have avoided this by not blowing a 3 - 0 lead against the griffins in the 3rd period, They couldn't even hang on to get an OT point that would have made the rocket getting an FF win against charlotte meaningless.
